Ganpathi Temple, Ratnagiri, Mumbai

Ratnagiri: It is situated 355 kms. from Mumbai. It is an excellent sea resort with winding creeks and dense palm groves. The Ratnagiri mangoes are world famous. The ancient fort (1350-1500AD) is worth a visit. Ganapathpuli is a lovely beach on the coast and has a famous 400 years old Ganpathi Temple. Jaigad Fort is also worth a visit. The Place where the deposed king of Burma was confined is a landmark of the town. Mulgund, the birth place of Keshavsoot, the famous Marathi Poet is nearby, Veleshwar Beach is quiet and ideal for swimming. There is an old Shiva temple in the town.

Satara : It is situated 275 kms. from Mumbai. The Maratha Kingdom flourished here after Poona was wrested by the British. Here the crown jewels of the Maratha rulers are preserved along with Shivaji Sword “Jai Bhavani” and his tiger claws (Bagh Nakh) with which he killed Behrarn Khan. These places are worth to visit.
